This three-mile park, which runs from the middle of San Francisco to the beach on the west, holds lakes, botanical gardens, epic museums, playing fields, hungry bison and pine forests.

The worldwide hippie movement's popular streak began in this park, and you can still spot traces of it hiding in the foliage and behind delightfully tan joggers.
